「Clarity（透明さ、明瞭さ）」。永瀬沙世の展覧会にこのタイトルがつけられるのは2回目である。しかしながら、彼女は、単に「透明」で「明瞭」な写真を追求しているわけではない。むしろ「わかりやすさ」から遠く離れて、茫漠とした世界やそれを見つめる視覚の不完全性から、作品制作を出発させている。彼女にとって「世界」は、自分自身が撮った何万枚もの写真群を幾度となく見直し、主観やエゴを排除しきった後に、無意識とともにはじめて「見える」ようになるものなのである。

"Clarity" is the title of Sayo Nagase's exhibition, marking the second time she's used this title. However, she's not merely pursuing "transparency" or "clarity" in her photographs. Instead, she departs from the simplicity of "understandability," transcending it far beyond the vague world and the imperfections of visual perception that it gazes upon. For her, the "world" is something that only truly "reveals itself" in her unconscious after revisiting tens of thousands of photos she's taken, eliminating subjectivity and ego. It's an unveiling that occurs only after these steps have been taken.

CLARITY Ⅱ  - In the infinite cosmos, humans cannot live alone. We are unconsciously influenced and influenced by others through our connections. Sayo Nagase is a Tokyo-based artist born in Hyogo, Japan. She has published 12 art collections through her book label, YOMOGI BOOKS, and has collaborated with publishers like LIBRARYMAN in Paris and Stockholm. In recent years, her solo exhibitions include "Milky Way" in 2018 at GALLERY 360° and "MERRY GO ROUND" in 2019. She is set to hold a new solo exhibition, "CLARITY II," in November 2023, along with the release of her new photo collection.
